Guess Who's Walking

We have a lot of molded plastic in our house. The family room is filled with expensive children's toys. Yet sometimes the simplest things are the most entertaining.

Adam and Tessa love playing with plastic cups. Bought in bulk, they're probably about two cents apiece. They especially love it when their dear old dad takes a plastic cup and flicks it up into the air with his index finger. They laugh and giggle when I catch it, and laugh and giggle even more when it drops to the floor.

Last night, I was flicking the cup into the air and then Adam or Tessa would crawl over to where it landed, grab it, and hand it back to me. We played that for a little while, then Adam got bored and went over to the gate to wait for his mom to come back into the room. While he was standing at the gate, I was still flicking the cup for Tessa. The cup landed over by Adam and I pointed to it and asked him to get it for me.

So he walked over and got it!

Actually he made it about five steps before he sat down. I sort of forgot about the cup as I went over and clapped for him. "Yay Adam!"

When his mom came back in, he walked some more for us. His movements are a little jerky--he's sort of doing the Robot--but walking makes him very happy. And us too.

We figure it'll only be about another week or two before Tessa catches up. We'll have the two of them walking around. That will be so cute.

I think.
