Tessa's First Steps

Yesterday was a big day. Tessa took her first unaided steps! She managed about two or three before she lunged into my arms, all smiles. Would you believe me if I told you she is extremely cute? I thought you would.

She has been doing a lot of standing and using the walker, so we knew she was close. Tess is also talking up a storm. Not in English, of course. Both twins are jabbering a lot now. They also understand a lot. When you tell them to drink their milk, they do. When you tell them "No!" they either stop what they are doing, or they continue with what they are doing, but look guilty about it.

They love to play together. I saw them playing "peek-a-boo" with each other yesterday. Like any good father, I sprinted for the video camera, but by the time I found it and turned it on, they were just looking at me as if to say, "Are you nuts?"

Adam is incredibly strong and resourceful. He is now climbing into the toybox we have. Then he climbs out, which is guaranteed to frighten the Missus and me, since it usually involves hanging half upside-down for a while. We have two bouncy chairs in the family room, and Adam has pushed them together to make his own jungle gym. His favorite trick is climbing onto the low one and then bouncing from that one to the higher one. Much fun--for him anyway.

I'm starting a new job soon (with the same company) and have been pretty darn busy lately. I've been remiss in my blogging, so I'll try to catch up a little bit in the next few days.

A Mr. Mom Weekend

We have the family room and kitchen gated off from the rest of the house and usually let the kids roam around freely. We thought it pretty safe, but the twins have a way of letting us know when we missed something.

The Missus and I were sitting in the family room. Adam came walking in from the kitchen. He walks everywhere now, though his stride bares a striking resemblence to mine the night of that memorable drinking fiasco in Annapolis before I ended up sitting on a curb in the rain for an hour. Adam's balance is somewhat better. As he strolled into the room we noticed that he had something in his hand: a plastic fork. Turns out that they can open cabinets now. Great.

I'll be taking the day off tomorrow. The Missus has a work confernce to attend starting tomorrow and continuing through the weekend, so this looks like a job for Mr. Mom! Help!

I'm sure I'll be fine. I hope.
