Summer Update
Wow, where did June go? It was a really busy month. Here's an update on the twins:
Daddy! Daddy! The cries could be heard throughout the tiny little restaurant. We’d found the little diner-like establishment on a drive through the Loudoun County countryside.
I had made the “mistake” of needing to pee. I took Adam back with me, as part of our divide and conquer stategy. (Never let them gang up on you!) Tessa didn’t like the situation one bit and started crying—loudly—for her father. Daddy! Daddy!
The other customers were in various stages of humor about the whole thing. One nice lady repeatedly tried to calm Tess down by telling her that I’d be right out. The Missus just laughed, for once Tess got into her yelling, it was really hard to get her to stop.
Unfortunately Tessa has been yelling a lot recently—-mostly in the middle of the night. We think she’s been having nightmares, because for the last couple of nights, she has woken up screaming. She can’t really tell us what the problem is. Fortunately Adam is now in a sleeping mood; last month he wanted to sleep in our bed every night.
Adam’s been fighting an on-and-off sore throat and swollen gland situation. The pedatrician warned us it may be his tonsils and adenoids.
Not to say that any of this has slowed the kids down. They are incredibly energetic, rambunctious and active. We call Tess “Action Girl” or “Princess Firecracker.” They will run around in circles for what seems like hours. They love to go up and down stairs. Adam doesn’t even hold on to the railing anymore. They play with each other a lot, sometimes quietly, mostly loudly. They love watching The Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. They sing most of the words of the two first verses: It’s the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse / Come inside! It’s fun inside! Sometimes we’ll hear Adam singing in his crib over and over, “Come inside it’s fun inside…”
They can count to twelve now, mostly in order. And they can do their ABCs up to G, mostly in order.
The Missus has signed Tessa up for ballet lessons. She’s been to a couple of classes now and loves every minute. We see her practicing her “tippy-toe, tippy-toe.” Adam is a pretty good dancer. He’s happiest when he’s reading a book though.
