Phone Call

I get this phone call at work:

Tessa: "Daddy, daddy, I did pee-pee and poo-poo on the potty! I did pee-pee and poo-poo on the potty!"

Me: "That's great, sweetie! I'm so proud of you! Let me just take you off speaker-phone..."

Friend

Tessa came home from daycare the other day and told me all about her new "friend," a boy named Thomas.

I don't think I like this!

Philadelphia Freedom

We took a long weekend up in Philadelphia. The Missus had never seen the Liberty Bell. We also visited Independence Hall, the Philadelphia Zoo and Valley Forge. We all had a good time, but there was definitely some stress involved in staying in a small hotel room with two very active three-year-olds.

We also drove around Havertown, a suburb of Philadelphia in which I lived from ages 7 to 14. Since I didn't drive at the time, my spatial memory is skewed. I recognized places that I had been to as a kid, but constantly found myself thinking: I didn't realize that was there. I also went into the Manoa Deli, where they used to sell a tuna salad that I have fond memories of. Unfortunately, it isn't the same. I guess Thomas Wolfe was right: you can't go home again. At least that's true for tunafish.
